Isle Of Wight School Trip 2010
News - Thursday 1st July
Beautiful morning again – bright sun and strong breeze – should be a good walk over
Tennyson Down to the Needles. Breakfast is cooking and the children are waking, tidying
their rooms washing etc. All slept well and are applying sun cream ready for the
walk. The pool at West Wight is booked for an hour’s swim later – should be a good
day.
Just finished dinner which was much enjoyed with clean plates. A full day with light
cloud and warm sunshine as we tackled a long walk over Tennyson Down. The children
managed it well, walking from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. arriving at Alum Bay for lunch. We
then went to the beach, saw the world famous coloured sands and then went on a boat
trip around the Needles. The sea was calm with a gentle swell and everyone enjoyed
the experience – some were nervous to begin with. Nearly everyone went up on the
chair lift and then bought a sand model to fill with coloured sand. We arrived at
West Wight Pool just in time for an hour’s ‘splash time’ which was great fun – the
coach journey back to the hotel was quite quiet with a few fast asleep.
Everyone is starting to pack their cases and will then head for the beach for a final
play on the sand and paddle in the sea. All are tired but excited about shopping
tomorrow morning and getting home.
