Growth Mindset

Growth Mindset @ Tewkesbury C of E Primary

At Tewkesbury Primary, we have embraced the philosophy of Growth Mindset.

Growth Mindset is the idea that in order to learn, we have to keep trying and learn from our mistakes. At Tewkesbury Primary, we are celebrating mistake-making and children are understanding that practice and making mistakes helps our brains become fitter and stronger. The philosophy is becoming embedded in our practice across the school and all children are believing in the Power of Yet!

Professor Carol Dweck (Stanford University) has dedicated her academic research to mindsets:

“In a growth mindset, people believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work – brains and talent are just the starting point. This view creates a love of learning and a resilience that is essential for great accomplishment.”
