Year three science afternoon

Year three had lots of fun today bringing science into the classroom – we made slime, built bridges, used magnets, experimented with colour as well as reflecting and refracting light. The children explored brilliantly with curiosity and questions.

Cross-country fun run

We were very proud to host the final Tewkesbury Cross-country fun run and presentation. We had lots of fun with some crazy outfits. The children from all schools have competed enthusiastically and energetically through the wind and rain this year. Well done to all who have competed.

Year Three host Rousseau exhibition

Year threes excelled themselves this week by producing pieces of art in the style of
Henri Rousseau. The pieces were exhibited in the school hall, attracting a large
gathering of parents during the afternoon. The idea behind the exhibit was to lure the burglar ,who had stolen an original Rousseau painting, back to school in order to capture him in the act of stealing another one! We are pleased to report that the plan was a success and the culprit is now being dealt with by the police.

Year 3 January news

When we got back from our brilliant Christmas holiday it was very surprising because we had our school Christmas dinner in January! Mr Stagg, our new teacher, taught us for the morning and Mrs Yeomans taught us for the afternoon. We wrote down what we wanted to find out about the Tudors and what we already know.

Thursday morning we had Open the Book assembly. We learnt about homophones during Literacy. Ask us about to, too and two or son and sun! We had an exciting afternoon learning about the different types of skeleton in animals and humans.

Friday Literacy lesson was very fun because we had to find 10 QR codes. Each gave us a picture which we used to design our own adventure story.

Experience Christmas

Year 3 took a short trip to Trinity church last week to take part in ‘Experience Christmas.’ The day was run by volunteers at the church and took children through the key stages of the Christmas story. The stages included:

The Preparation

The Announcement

The Journey

The Promises

The Message and

The gift

We all joined together at the end to see how much we had learned by taking part in a quiz that tested our listening! Thank-you Trinity for a great day.

Year 3 news

On Friday we worked hard on Doodlemaths, we want Year 3 to be at the top of the leaderboard!

In Literacy we have been doing our Big Write which is all about finding something then the animals save it.

In Maths we have now moved to doing Multiplication.

In Science we learnt what food helps your body to do different things.

In French we learnt the names of the colours, e.g. black is noir and pink is rose.

It’s been a good week, we’re learning lots.
