Welcome

A Message from the Headteacher

Welcome to our school

I would like to take this opportunity to warmly welcome you to our website, where you will find information about our school and be able to see our children’s work.

I am enormously proud to be the Headteacher at Tewkesbury C of E Primary and Preschool, a two-form entry school, situated in beautiful grounds, in the heart of the picturesque river town of Tewkesbury.

We are a happy and welcoming school which aims to strengthen our relationship with God and each other every day.  We believe this school is a special place and we want our children to learn together and fulfil their potential, laying the foundations for a lifelong journey of discovery and exploration. We also know that children need to enjoy their learning and we aid this through an active and challenging R.E.A.L. curriculum, delivered by a team of talented, hardworking and committed staff who are dedicated to doing the very best for all children. Our aim is for all who are linked to the school to shine in all they do.

Please take the opportunity to visit us and experience the inspiring and positive atmosphere here – just call the office to make an appointment.  I would be delighted to show you around.

Our aims for the school

At Tewkesbury C of E Primary School and Preschool, we take pride in developing outstanding teaching and learning by having high expectations of all of our pupils and knowing and caring for each and every child well. We challenge all children to strive for academic, creative, sporting and personal accomplishment within our broad, vibrant and enriched R.E.A.L curriculum. Our children are given time to explore subjects and develop deep understanding. We celebrate perseverance, resilience and risk taking, ensuring children welcome challenge and are not frightened to make mistakes. We encourage children to take ownership of and responsibility for their learning, so they have the confidence and curiosity to ask questions, solve problems and respond to quality feedback. Children are praised for hard work, determination and having a positive attitude.

In order to create an inclusive school where everyone can flourish, whatever their background, we promote an ethos of respect and empathy, where diversity is valued and celebrated – both within school and the wider world. Safeguarding and welfare is extremely important and pupils are taught the virtues of kindness and appreciation through the Christian Values. Special care is taken to educate everyone in the Tewkesbury C of E community about the needs of others and how best to meet them. We promote open and honest communication with parents, carers and specialists and actively seek to engage with all members of the Tewkesbury C of E community in a positive and supportive manner.

High quality teaching is at the heart of all we do at Tewkesbury C of E and the relationship between staff and children underpins inspirational, supportive and effective teaching and learning. Staff are actively involved in identifying their support and training needs and this leads to careers with clear progression. We ensure that there is a wide range of quality training available and that staff are able to learn from each other and share good practice.

It is our aim for all children to leave Tewkesbury C of E as independent learners with self-belief and an abiding respect for others. We aim to instil a lifelong love for learning and a strong grounding for future success ensuring the children shine in all they do.
