This term Year one have been learning about the artist Henri Rousseau.
We explored his famous painting ‘Surprised’ and talked about the colours and textures we could see.
We learnt about the fore ground, middle ground and back ground in a picture and discussed where to place animals to achieve a planned effect.
As part of our project we studied different plants, sketching and colour mixing to create images similar to Henri’s style of work.
We then chose to create a ‘hidden toucan’ or ‘hidden tiger’ picture and used oil pastels as our preferred medium.
We think our toucan and tigers look terrific!
