Grand Opening and sponsored event- Wednesday 31st October

We are very fortunate to have female boxing champion  Kerry Davies officially open our new fitness suite on the field. Kerry is from Cheltenham and is the England Number 1 and has now been selected for the GB team. She is currently training for the 2020 Olympics. It is particularly inspiring for the children to have a local athlete.  As part of her visit she will be show her many medals, belts  and trophies, demonstrate sparing and work out with the children on  the fitness apparatus. The children will be bringing home a sponsor form for this event. The money raised will go towards purchasing more playtime equipment. All the children will have the opportunity to use the fitness equipment for 30 mins. There are 8 different pieces for the children to work out on. They are being sponsored for completing the course

Two stars and one wish feedback

Thank you for all your responses that have helped us review our practices. It is encouraging to read how the new uniform, teaching staff, office staff and groundsman are appreciated by you. So too are efforts of communication through more regular email updates. We will endeavour to release newsletters weekly but these will vary in size and content. (Some paper versions will be available in the main office)We really wish to push the website as our main point of communication.  Some parents wished for an online payment system for easy to pay diner money, uniform and trips. Mrs Thomas, the Chair of Governors has made a full response to this in her parents letter attached to this Newsletter. We are looking to see how more after school clubs for the younger children can be achieved.

Year 1 Trip to Birdland

Year 1 had a fabulous trip at Birdland today. As the name suggests, their main focus is birds …

Year 6 Win Maths Challenge!

On Tuesday 9th October, four marvellous mathematicians took part in a Maths Challenge at Deans Close School, Cheltenham.

Our Year 6 mathematicians were challenged with three rounds of tricky maths questions, including solving worded problems, countdown and even algebra! However, the problems didn’t phase our Year 6s and one of our teams landed the top spot to win the Cheltenham Year 6 Maths Challenge.

We are proud of all our Year 6s for representing the school so well and also for demonstrating their excellent mathematical knowledge.

Congratulations to Ollie and Amy and also to Ollie and Eva!

Value: Hope

Recently we were visited by the chairperson of Tewkesbury Rotary Club, Anne Bartholomew, who presented Mrs Arnold with a cheque for £820. The donation was for more reading books in Foundation and KS1. Mrs Arnold is passionate about encouraging the younger children to develop good reading habits early on so that they maintain a life-long passion for reading. Pictured Anne Bartholomew and Mrs Arnold. We are very grateful to The Rotary Club.
