Children’s Published Poetry Books
The books below were created by the children of Tewkesbury C of E Primary School to celebrate the wonderful world of poetry.
To begin the project, all of the teachers got dressed up and read out poems about many of the different mini beasts that you would find in the great outdoors. There were some truly memorable performances!
The children then carried out a variety of workshops to immerse themselves in the world of poetry, before creating their own poems.
Once the poems were completed, they produced beautiful pieces of art to represent their poems. These have now been published in their own class books, copies of which are being donated to the town library.
We are selling these books to Parents at £5 each on Parents’ Evening next Tuesday and Wednesday. Reception classes, Year 1 & 2 are A5 size and Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 are A4. The books are wonderfully illustrated by the children and I am sure you will want a keep-sake for grandparents too.
It is a tradition for the younger children (Reception, Years 1 & 2) to make and parade their Easter bonnet at the end of term assembly. For those new parents unaware of this tradition below are some ideas.
End of Term Assemblies
Easter bonnet parade assembly for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 is on Wednesday 28th March at 9.30am.
Praise assembly Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 is on Thursday 29th March at 9.00am.
End of Term Closing Time
We will be finishing school at 2.00pm on Thursday 29th March. There will be no After School care provision.
The summer term starts on Monday 16th April at 8.50am.
All school clubs will finish this week. Outside clubs will still run next week.
From the 16th April the bottom pedestrian gate will be locked until 10.00am and then again from 2.30pm. This is to encourage those parents who are still not doing so, not to drive down or park in Rope Walk during the peak times. Whilst this may be an inconvenience to some parents, the safety of the children must come first. A reminder that parking permits for Cascades car park are free from the school office.
Next week a new style report will be given to your child. We have tried to improve the depth of information that we give to parents about progress. It is more detailed than previous termly reports and forms the basis for the final summer report.
A reminder that all newsletters are on our website www.tewkesbury-primary.co.uk these are not every week but as and when needed. You can have it sent to your personal email address. (please give updated details to the office).
Teachers are informing parent’s regularly through the class website page. Please check your child’s class page for information, pictures, dates and achievements.
