Play in a Day

Year 5 treated the school and their parents to a performance of a Greek Play in a Day. This is Jaydon Hendry’s account:

‘We have been creating this production since 9am. A Play in a Day is a production that we put together linked to our theme on ‘It’s All Greek to Me!’ As you know, there are 24 hours in a day, but we have managed to put together our performance in a matter of 4 and a half hours. We had our friend Colin to lead us through the scenes as well as our teachers and teaching assistants. The myths we performed were Pandora’s Box, Daedalus and Icarus, Echo and Narcissus and Theseus and the Minotaur. We also presented different aspects of the Olympics with a young boy and his pet donkey, Muska, taking us through our journey. The best aspect of the day was practising our roles and performing to the school and later to our parents. We learnt about team work, sportsmanship and more about Ancient Greece. We would love to do it all again!’

After School Clubs

Can parents be extra vigilent during the dark nights when collecting their children from the after school clubs at Cascade car park. The children are naturally excited to see their parents and will run to them as other parents are driving off. It is particularly difficult to spot younger children in this light. I draw your attention back to an acccident in Tewkesbury at this time of year when a 5 year old was run over on the crossing by Cascades which resulted in very serious injuries.

Parents Gifts

Once again this year, the ever popular PTC Parent Christmas Gifts sale is back on Monday 11th December.

During the school day on Monday 11th December, the children will have the opportunity to buy gifts for their parents, or anyone else that they would like to.

Gifts will be £2.50 each and children should bring to school £2.50 (in a sealed envelope) for each gift they would like to buy on Monday 11th December.

There are some amazing gifts to choose from and it is a lovely opportunity for the children to buy a surprise for whoever they would like to!

Abbey Carol Service

Our Carol Service at The Abbey will start at 2.00pm on Monday 4th December. The service is for the whole school after which the children can be collected and taken home by parents attending the service. Please ensure that the children do not bring lunch boxes but instead bring their food in a disposable bag. The children will not be bringing their school bags to the Abbey.

We are trying a different seating plan this year. All the children will be seated at the front of the Abbey and when they perform as a year group will walk onto a raised stage so that parents can see them. A polite reminder from the Abbey NOT to bring in Costa cups and other beverages to the service. Also this is a service and not a school performance and we would respectfully ask that no one leaves their seats to take photos from the isles.

Christmas Fayre

The new PTC (Parents and Teachers Committee) have been working tirelessly on the school discos and now the Christmas Fayre. We are raising funds to re landscape the infant playground. This years fayre has many attractions: a super Christmas hamper, Father Christmas and his magical sleigh, many stalls and games, choir, traditional christmas refreshments and much, much more! Come and join us at 3.30pm in the school hall.
