Children in Need

This year it is on Friday 17th November and we will be having a non-uniform day. The theme this year is ‘Get your ears on’. We will be encouraging the children to bring small change to cover a giant Pudsey.

Parking

A huge thank you to the vast majority of parents parking responsibly at Cascades and taking advantage of the free parking permit . Although parking has much improved in Rope Walk there are still some persistant parents parking on the double yellow turn bay. Letters are being sent directly to those parents. As the dark nights draw in it is ever more important that we keep our children safe and put them at risk unnecessarily.

Disco

Our Christmas disco will be on Thursday 30th November for Reception, Y1 & Y2 children this will be from 3.30pm to 4.30pm. The children will be allowed to change into their party clothes in the classroom. The KS2 children (Y3,4,5 & 6) disco will follow from 5.00pm to 6.30pm. Consent forms will be coming home with children shortly.  The cost is £2.50 per ticket.

Starting Time

Increasingly some of the older children are arriving at school as early as 8.00am, we do not open the school until 8.30am. There is no adult supervision for your child when arriving this early.

School Photographs

Tuesday 7th November is individual and family photograph day. If you would like family photographs please come from 8.15am into the hall. Brothers and sisters in school will automatically have family groups and individual photographs taken. You have no obligation to purchase the photographs.

PATA Training

We have the opportunity for 10 free places on the PATA introduction to childs play course. This course normally costs £80. It is a 6 week course of 2 hour sessions. These will be delivered in the Community Centre by a PATA leader.

Join us for this hands-on, practical course which looks at play from the child’s perspective, exploring why children need to play and how they learn from it. You will develop a folder of ideas, information, resources and recipes and will be involved with other students in practical activities and discussions, sharing experiences and exchanging ideas.

  • The course is 6 hours in total and includes:
  • Child development
  • The role of the adult
  • Health and Safety
  • Equal opportunities
  • Practical play activities; using paint, natural and recycled materials, food and snacks, stories and music, playdough, developing imaginative play.

The course is suitable for parents wanting ideas and skills for improving play with their children and anyone wanting to work with children. It is an excellent course for anyone looking to volunteer in a toddler group or seeking work in any early years setting, or as a pre-course activity for a higher level early years qualification. Due to the limited places please contact me if you are interested.
