Menu week 1

Last week our Year 6 children experienced the Isle of Wight for their long awaited residential. We had numerous reports of their outstanding behaviour. I have just been part of their afternoon award celebration which included multi videos of their experiences. Without exception every picture and clip captured their enjoyment and excitement. My sincere thanks go to the members of staff who gave up their own precious family time to take the children away each year. It is a huge responsibility particularly in recent times.
Year 1 enjoyed donkey rides and ice cream in Weston on the hottest day of the year. Year 5 have had an epic week of being Young Apprentices. The winning team was ‘Sugar Rush’.
We have celebrated more sporting success in the Tewkesbury Schools Athletics coming first and taking 2nd place in the Cheltenham Schools Athletic competition.
The Drama club concluded their year with an Oscar night style celebration and the children walked down the red carpet and posed for the paparazzi.

Fun day
Next Wednesday the 5th July 2017 is our much awaited Summer Fayre fun day. The children I know are counting down the days. A reminder that things will be a little different this year. Please note that the event starts at 3.30pm and parents are asked to collect their children as normal at the end of the day and if you are attending the Fayre then to exit the school site and queue by the main double gates at the bottom of Rope Walk. These will be opened promptly by staff. There will be several lanes of entry giving a quick method of payment and entry.  An entry band costs £5 for school children and adults (those wishing to have a go) and £3 for Pre-school children. This gives you unlimited goes on all the rides.

Sports Day
A reminder that Sports day is on Wednesday 12th July from 9.30am to 12.00 miday. The morning is divided into two halves; the traditional Kiwi Games where the children compete in a course of fun games . Parents are encouraged to encourage/support their children at these game stations. And the traditional competitive races.

KS1 (Reception classes,Years 1&2) will start their competivie races at 9.30am on the school field. Then from 10.45am their Kiwi games will be held on the front playground.

KS2 (Years 3,4,5&6) will start their Kiwi games at 9.30am and will be held on the back playground. Their competitive races will start at 10.45am on the field.
A program of events will be made available on the day so that parents can keep track of their child/ren events.
The school will provide drinks for the children .
A reminder to parents not to approach the children during the morning please as this makes it very challenging to supervise the children safely.
At 12.00 midday we invite you stay on the field and have your picnic lunch with your children. At 1.00pm the children will return back into school. On Thursday during our assembly the children will be told which was the winning house and those children will be presented with their medals. Please ensure your child has their P.E. kit.

SuperSchools Update
After raising the magnificent sum of over £1000 for our school, with our SuperSchools sponsorship, I am delighted to inform you of the benefit it has made to our children. We have already purchased new safe class footballs for use at playtimes. We have allocated some of the money to our Science, Cooking, Eco and Art clubs to ensure that they are free for all members. Miss Rowland has already organised a new school netball kit, complete with our school badge. Mr Rylatt is in discussions about purchasing a new school football kit, again with our school badge attached. Mrs Lewis is also looking to purchase a new athletics kit. We are also receiving quotes to purchase new resources for French, Rounders, Netball nets, Football goals, all of which have been highlighted by our school council. We will look forward to sharing these with you in due course.
